If you’re anything like me…you absolutely love watching “Sunday Reset” YouTube videos.

You know what I’m talking about–the videos featuring the twenty-something girls, with the yoga bodies and pristine, city-view apartments (with white marble counter-tops of course). Most of the time, their weekly reset routines consist of making avocado toast, rearranging their aesthetic vision boards, and lighting their $80 candles for “good vibes.”

And if you’re anything like me…you need a reset that is a little bit deeper than that. You need more than a weekly reset–you need a life reset.

For those who aren’t aware, a life reset is basically an attempt to re-build your life from scratch. Kind of like rebooting your computer. It’s the act of overhauling the elements of the life that are not conducive to attaining the life that you want.

There are plenty of tell-tale signs that indicate the need for a life reset, but the most significant indication is when you have lost sight of your goals. This has, most likely, stifled your creative projects as well. If you feel as though you’re aimlessly “going through the motions” with an endless schedule that consists of futile tasks…it might be time to go back to the drawing board and re-think the way that you are spending your time.

Maybe you surrounded yourself with the wrong people, or took a job that threw you into misalignment. Maybe you don’t even know who you are yet; and you’re still figuring out what your goals even are. That is perfectly normal, because maybe part of your “life reset” is admitting that you don’t have all the answers.

Whether you are finding yourself, or finding your way back to yourself…it might be time to hit the reset button. I know that it’s a lot easier said than done. Sometimes the hardest part is figuring out where to start. The answer is different for everyone, but I’ll go first. I’m starting by making a conscious effort to organize my schedule around the things that I love–writing (fiction and non-fiction), and creating visual content. I want to finish writing my novel, and my screenplay. The challenge is that I’m also a full-time law student with a full-time job. Despite all of my other responsibilities, I need to make space for the things that give me joy. In order to do that, I’m going to need to be intentional with my time. And ORGANIZED. I’m a whole mess, chile don’t get me started. This will also require new habits (with discipline being the most significant one).

Your turn. Do you feel like you need a “life reset?” What steps are you going to take to achieve this goal? Think about it. Our journeys won’t look the same, and that’s why it’s important that you document your individualized process. I know I will.

Until Next time,

-D.
